Decrease your budgeting cycle time by improving your OODA Loop! OODA = Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) is a decision-making model developed by military strategist and United States Air Force Colonel John Boyd. It’s a simple set of steps:
Observe = define the current reality. This gets better with experience and a good model.
Orient = identify or create some position that gives you an advantage.
Decide = Cut all extraneous noise out, and focus.
Act = Do the job
Then repeat. The “then repeat” is critical! If you can cycle through this faster than a competitor, you have an advantage in winning! This is so important for innovation budgeting. If you have a practical and concise method that identifies the key metrics and removes all the other noise, you have a huge advantage! My 2024mar27 blog lists the key metrics.
