Little by little, toward the number.
State College PA has beautiful Autumn foliage! I live in an area called Park Forest, where the trees are so dense that it is sometimes called “Dark Forest”. All those leaves, at the tops of those trees, eventually fall down in October. Not wanting my lawn to die under the rotting leaves, I dutifully rake the leaves onto a tarp, and drag them to the curb for the township to pick up. In Fall 2021, I counted how many tarps of leaves I dragged to the curb, and it was FORTY-FIVE!!!
That’s the number. 45. I can do it in 5 sets of 9 tarps, or 9 sets of 5, or 45 x 1, or 22x2. I can do it this weekend, or tomorrow, or later in the week, but one way or another, I have to get 45 tarps of leaves to the curb.
This year I decided to rake up the leaves little by little, 5 tarps + 5 tarps + 5 tarps … And it will accumulate to 45. And it feels doable, not overwhelming. What are YOU starting today, little by little, that will ACCUMULATE to a large whole? Maybe you’re training for a 5k race, getting in your miles little by little. Maybe you’re trying to get to 10 pullups, and doing them throughout the day and week. Maybe you’re learning about marketing or sales, or computer coding or probability theory, little by little. Maybe you’re investing $10/week for your future.
Keep going! Life accumulates. If you start now, you’ll see that some years down the road, you’ll have a great marriage, good health, a great investment account, loads of skills. START TODAY toward the number you choose.
