2 Purposes of goals.
I saw this video of a race between a tortoise and a hare. As usual, the tortoise won. How is that possible? The rabbit got out to a fast start, but then got distracted with who knows what? And so at least in the time frame of this video, never did finish! Goals have two purposes:
1. Inspire. To inspire a person toward a future preferred picture. There’s something at the end worth having.
2. Focus. Along the way toward the finish line, there are 1000 distractions that can divert us. Goals keep our eyes locked on the preferred end.
And one more for teams …
3. Goals blind us to other items, which can in fact be a bit dangerous. What if the tortoise didn’t see the coyote lurking nearby? Working as a team lets you move toward a common goal, while watching for coyote risks.
