The importance of trust

I think a number of us have noticed over the past several years, that a greater fraction of people don’t just “believe the news”, “believe the experts”, believe the … photos, videos, data, scientific interpretation etc. If this sense is correct, and we are in fact leaning -- even a bit -- toward a “post-evidence world”, then the importance of TRUST and EMPATHY are much more important! Even for those of us in STEM fields (eg engineering, medicine, accounting, finance, safety …). I think that data is only valuable when coupled with enough empathy to grow TRUST.

QUESTION: Any thoughts on the importance of trust compared with evidence?
